SIPCC führt jedes Jahr ein Internationales Seminar für Interkulturelle Seelsorge und Beratung durch. Menschen aus vielen unterschiedlichen Ländern treffen sich zu Begegnungen, Austausch und inhaltlicher Arbeit.

The theme draws on Lublin’s association with Jacob Isaac Horowitz (1745-1815), who was known as the Seer of Lublin, and will reflect on two meanings of “to see” in the context of interreligious dialogue and care.
The seminar will be at the Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in collaboration with the UMCS’ Institute of Philosophy and the Parafii Ewangelicko-Augsburskiej (Lutheran Church) in Lublin. More information, including the program, can be found here.
Cost is € 450 for in-person (excluding hotels) and € 70 for online participation.

Zur Geschichte
Das erste Seminar wurde 1986 durch Helmut Weiß im Diakoniewerk Kaiserswerth (gegründet 1836) durchgeführt, damals mit Howard Clinebell, einem weltberühmten Pastoralpsychologen aus den USA. Danach ergaben sich Kooperationen mit der Evangelischen Akademie im Rheinland und dem Seelsorgeseminar in Halle/Saale. Als 1994 die Akademie nicht mehr bereit war, die Seminare durchzuführen, wurde 1995 SIPCC gegründet, um die interkulturelle Seelsorgearbeit fortsetzen zu können. Seither sind zu den Seminaren viele andere Aktivitäten getreten, wobei die Seminare das „Herzstück” von SIPCC bilden. Seit 2002 hat in den Seminaren auch die interreligiüse Seelsorgearbeit einen Schwerpunkt.
Partner für die Seminare
Die Internationalen Seminare werden an verschiedenen Orten und in verschiedenen Ländern jeweils mit Partnern vor Ort zu unterschiedlichen Themen durchgeführt. In vielen Fällen werden die jeweiligen Beiträge in unserer Schriftenreihe veröffentlicht.
Ideen für Seminarthemen, Partner und Orte werden dem Vorstand und der Mitgliederversammlung vorgelegt und beschlossen und dann von der SIPCC Planungsgruppe und den Partnern vorbereitet und durchgeführt.
Ziel der Seminare
Die Internationalen Seminare wollen einen gemeinsamen ganzheitlichen Lernprozess der Beteiligten fördern:
- die Teilnehmenden erleben Menschen aus unterschiedlichen Kulturen und Religionen und tauschen sich über unterschiedliche kulturelle und religiöse Erfahrungen aus
- sie geben sich gegenseitig Impulse für den eigenen Lebensstil
- sie geben sich gegenseitig Impulse für spirituelles und gemeinschaftliches Leben
- sie setzen sich mit dem kulturellen, sozialen, politischen, wirtschaftlichen und religiösen Kontext von Menschen auseinander
- sie unterziehen ihre eigenen und die fremden Auffassungen einer würdigenden kritischen Reflexion
- sie stellen ihre seelsorgerliche und beraterische Arbeit dar und reflektieren sie aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven
- sie erweitern ihr professionelles Wissen in der Auseinandersetzung mit dem jeweiligen Seminarthema
- sie treten in eine Theoriebildung von interkultureller und interreligiöser Seelsorge und Beratung ein
Stipendienprogramm
SIPCC unterstützt Studierende, junge Wissenschaftler/innen und junge Menschen in Ausbildungsprogrammen für Seelsorge und Beratung, um ihnen die Teilnahme an Seminaren von SIPCC zu ermöglichen.

Each year, SIPCC organizes an International Seminar on Intercultural Pastoral Care and Counselling. People from many different countries gather for encounter, exchange and discussion of relevant issues.

History of the Seminars
The first Seminar was conducted in 1986 by Helmut Weiss in the Diakoniewerk Kaiserswerth (a diaconal institution founded in 1836), together with the world-famous American author and pastoral psychologist Howard Clinebell. After that co-operations were started with the Evangelical Academy of the Rhineland and the Seminary in Halle/Saale in Eastern Germany (then GDR). In 1994 the Evangelical Academy ended its cooperation, which led to the foundation of SIPCC in 1995 to continue the work on intercultural pastoral care. Since then many other activities were started, but the International Seminars continue to be the core of SIPCC. Since 2002 not only intercultural issues but interreligious and interfaith themes are emphasized too.

Partners for Seminars
The International Seminars take place on various locations in many countries for many different topics. For each Seminar SIPCC seeks cooperation with local partners. In many cases the contributions are published in our magazine.
Ideas for themes, partners and for suitable venues will be presented to the Executive Committee and the General Assembly which will take decision. The planning and organisation lies in the hands of the SIPCC Planning Committee.
Goals of the Seminars
The International Seminars seek to enhance a mutual holistic learning process among the participants:
- the participants meet people from other cultures and exchange various cultural experiences
- they give and receive new impulses for new lifestyles
- they give and receive new impulses for their spiritual and communal living
- they reflect on cultural, social, political, economical and religious contexts of people
- they challenge their own cultural and religious assumptions and presuppositions
- they present their practice in care and counselling and reflect upon them from various perspectives
- they extend their professional knowledge in dealing with the theme of the seminar
- they enter into a process of theory-building of Intercultural and Interreligious Care and Counselling
Scholarships Programme
SIPCC encourages students, and young scholars of pastoral care and couselling to participate in the SIPCC seminars. To this end SIPCC has established a Scholarships programme.
